    Rosie's Country Bakeshop

    January 5, 2018

    LI Greenmarket Blogger

This week, LI Greenmarket Inc. is happy to introduce Rosemary Scheiber, owner of Long Island's Rosie's Country Bakeshop. Rosemary has been in business for about 4 years, as an approved Home Food Processor. Rosie's Country Bakeshop specializes in creating old fashioned desserts, baked from scratch, using the highest quality ingredients. Delicious treats include: Whoopie Pies, Pecan Pie Bars, Snickerdoodle Cookies, Linzer Tarts, Coffee Cake and more.

We caught up with "Rosie," herself, and talked about her inspirations, favorite aspects of being farmer's market vendor, and why she works so hard to bring about such delicious and beautiful treats to Market:

Please tell us about your inspiration for your bakery business.

I've always loved to bake and create dishes in the kitchen since I was child. In 2008 I completed a Baking and Pastry Arts Certificate Program at the Culinary Academy of Long Island to hone in some skills. Visits to Lancaster County Pennsylvania and Amish Country inspired the love of simple desserts and WHOOPIE PIES!!! I had to recreate them at home, many trials finally resulted in my most loved and popular product. The Whoopie Pies are rich moist chocolate cookie cakes that are filled with a divine fluffy marshmallow-vanilla buttercream!

What is the most rewarding part of what you are doing with Food?

Meeting and getting to know customers and other local vendors. Bringing joy to people through good food.

Why is vending at a Farmers Market important to you and how does it make a personal impact on what you are doing as a local business owner?

I love the variety and quality of the locally grown and made foods and products that I am exposed to at the market, and the passion that I witness from the vendors and customers about the products and this unique shopping experience.
